A new place has appeared along Rokeby Road in the heart of Subiaco and it is called Paris Crepes Cafe. As the name so reveals the establishment is a French cafe serving crepes, coffee, pastries and small snacks throughout the day.
Cycling to work one Thursday we noticed a special on the signboard– crepe and coffee for $5.00. We needed no persuasion; we were sold on having a sweet breakfast and walked straight through the entrance.
The cafe has a front takeaway counter and a number of lounge and booth seating options inside. It is positioned next door to the well known fine dining restaurant Witches Cauldron. The decor is modern, a painted mural on the brick wall and there are a few purple velvet chairs. There is no classical provincial style present but there are baskets on the counter with homemade croissants and pastries.
At 8:00 am we were the first in and were served fairly quickly. Our large folded once crepes were soft and fluffy. Not rubbery at all, a common complaint I have with crepes in Perth. The coffees were a welcomed ‘wake up’, strong and hot. For $5.00 it certainly was value for money, perhaps the cheapest breakfast in Subiaco at the moment or EVER?
Sugar and Butter Crepe
Paris Crepes Cafe joins quite a nice line up of dessert style cafes in Subiaco which includes Gelares, Chocolateria San Churro, La Galette de France, Lawlor’s Bakery and Chez Jean-Claude Patisserie. A notable difference is they serve savoury crepes as well as Gluten free ones. The cafe is open from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, it would be nice if it were open for a evening crepe for the coming summer.
