Jaylea’s Patisserie and Lunch Bar is located in the old suburb of Willagee, just off Leach Highway – South of the River.
The name describes exactly what to expect….Patisserie meets Aussie lunch bar. There are trays of freshly made cakes, slices, choux pastry, macaroons and biscuits as well as hot pies, pastries, a sandwich bar and the daily soup!
The walls are adorned in awards won mostly at the Royal Show over the years, an indication that this suburban bakery has been an old favourite in Western Australia for some time.
Jaylea’s Patisserie and Lunch Bar have recently won three silver and two bronze at the 2012 National Australia’s Best Pie Competition.
My main purpose of today’s visit was to warm up and kick start a Saturday morning with coffee and cake. DD immediately lost that craving for cake though and set off to the warm pie oven. He ordered the Cheese and Bacon Pie and in his own words ‘it was full of chunky goodness’.
Coffee was $4.20, about the same price as in the Perth CBD and it did not disappoint either!
The Strawberry Flan was delightful and consisted of crunchy biscuit dough, custard and large fresh strawberries as well as a few blueberries and flakes of almonds. It is so important for the fruit to be fresh, and this was exactly that.
The cakes were very reasonably priced from $3.80. My Strawberry Flan was $3.90, very cheap for Perth!
Free parking is available at the front and there is seating inside and outside. This little patisserie also bake cakes for any occasions (Wedding, Birthday etc) and you can order everything online.
Jaylea’s is open very early in the morning from 6:30am, the best time to buy those freshly made products.
