Excelsior Deli
The suburb Shenton Park is virtually next door to Subiaco and it too has a number of street side cafes around the place as well as some well known higher end restaurants such as Galileo, Petite Mort and Kiri Japanese. Excelsior Deli is located on the tree lined Onslow St strip and one Saturday morning on the way to dropping DD off at Coffee school in the city we stop in for a quick coffee (fast forward 10 hours and DD may not have had that coffee after having 20 at coffee school!)
Excelsior Deli use the Five Senses blend for their coffees. The corner cafe is warehouse in design with a clean cut raw minimalist look, it appears to be a favourite for young mum and dad’s in the area. The counter has a few healthy choice cakes and slices however we order some macaroons with the coffees instead.
On occasion when it has been a particularly draining week and we have to be up early on a Saturday, DD and I don’t much exchange words until we have had our coffee, our brains seriously lagging. Spying the well stocked magazine and newspaper section we head directly to it, browsing until our coffees arrive almost instantly. After a few moments with our coffees, conversation flows effortlessly.
The Sesame Seed Macaroon was absolutely delicious, a good flavour selection and as good as our coffee was, the dine in cup I found to be on the small side.
