Hidden away from the bustling Claremont Quarter shopping mall and Bay View Terrace is a rather good creperie with reasonable prices in comparison to other cafes in the vicinity. It’s the perfect place to begin the day or perhaps end your shopping trip. Claremont is located in the Western suburbs of Perth, along the coast near to Cottesloe and Mt Claremont.
The crepes at Crepe Cherie are unbelievably tasty and this could be a reflection of the fact that some of the recipes come from the owners late grandmother, who was French of course!
Crepe Cherie certainly create a Parisian environment in our Aussie sunburnt city, the only thing missing was an accordion busker! The cafe has a lovely wooden interior with checkered flooring and the tunes of french provincial music playing in the background. We were greeted with staff wearing black and white checkered tops and cute berets.
We ordered two cappuccinos in a mug ($4.40) which to our immediate pleasure is served with an extra shot of coffee. The little Christmas tree and snowman artwork in the froth was very cute, merci.
Wishing us a bon appétit with our meal was a really nice touch by the staff, keeping the Parisian atmosphere well and truly alive.
Since returning from Paris a year ago, i have been on a thorough and exhaustive search for a cafe in Perth that serve Nutella crepes. As I surveyed the menu, i took no delay in ordering the Madeline Crepe ($12.00) and a scoop of vanilla ice cream ($1.50). The Madeline crepe is folded with melted Nutella inside and finished with sliced banana and a sprinkling of sugar . I was thankful that there was not too much sprinkled sugar as sometimes it can be an overkill on any dessert.
The crepe was absolutely delicious and the ice cream a nice soft and creamy consistency.
Sweet Crepe – Madeline
DD ordered the Cherie Crepe ($12.00) which was served with warm vanilla custard, sprinkling of sugar, drizzle of chocolate sauce and a wedge of lemon. It was just as delicious as the Madeline and the combination of the warm custard and juice from the squeezed lemon went so well together, it was refreshingly different.
Sweet Crepe – Cherie Crepe
Crepes are served all day at Crepe Cherie in Claremont
Parking can be a bit of a pain on the weekends in the area. I suggest parking at the underground parking at Claremont Quarter and walking to Crepe Cherie! The best way is to cross Bay View Terrace and walk through ‘Lemon lane’ and Crepe Cherie will be right in front! Parking is free for 3 hours and do not forget to validate your ticket when leaving the carpark. Crepe Cherie is very kid friendly with a little corner play table in the patio outdoor area. Order your selection at the counter.
