Kakula Bros, Northbridge
Kakula Brothers is a continental grocer in the heart of Northbridge and this William Street establishment has been around since 1929 and is owned by hardworking Greek brothers. Kakula Brothers is not your typical modern branded supermarket, it is a charming traditional grocer that sells all the raw ingredients for cooking such as flours, spices, seasonings, grains, nuts, teas, tinned vegetables, oils and cheeses. Middle Eastern, Indian, Italian, Greek, Chinese – there is something here for every culture.
Outside at the front of the store is a nifty little window serving as a takeaway counter where you can order coffees and teas, all freshly brewed from the products instore. After having breakfast nearby at Little Willys we decided to grab another coffee on the way back to the car, Kakula Brothers seemed like the perfect choice and what drew us to the store was the bold ‘Coffee to Go’ sign that even without glasses I could see metres away.
The coffees were freshly brewed from the beans in the store and you are given the choice for ice cream and chocolate in the ice coffee. It was a quick no fuss experience, the menu was clearly displayed at the window and the lady happily took our orders and even gave us a biscuit to go.
The Heath Ledger Theatre is across the road and the Western Australian Museum is nearby, Kakula Brothers is the best spot to grab a takeaway coffee.
Ice Coffee ($5.00)

No Eftpos, cash only (there is an ATM nearby)
Best time to visit is on a Sunday morning before lunch as most people in the area are either having breakfast or lining up at the Dim Sum eateries.
Parking is a pain and you have to pay. Street parking is limited and William Street is one way so you have to do a big loop if you cannot find any parking on the street, trust me it can change your mood instantly when you have to do the loop! We parked on Francis Street in the underground State Library Car park. Alternatively the Perth train station is a 5 minute walk.
No seating, just takeaway coffee and tea
